Mullion, St Mellanus
St Mellanus, Mullion is in the middle of the village on a one-way Street, Churchtown. There is no parking beside the Church but there is some just North where Churchtown meets Lender Lane (B3296).
The Church is built with granite and the local serpentine which gives it a distinctive, variegated, appearance. The inside of the Church is equally interesting with a Cornish barrel roof and elaborately carved bench ends. [See photos.] Ringing is from the ground floor.

I visited for the first time on Tuesday 21st July 2009 while on holiday with my wife walking the South West Coast Path. I couldn't ring in advance as getting a signal on my mobile was hit and miss (mostly miss) all week. This was my first time ringing in this part of the country and it was an interesting experience. I was told that they only ring call changes so felt that I should be ok. However, they ring them a little differently to what I am familiar with. The first difference is the speed at which they ring, much faster. The second difference is that changes also include the tenor, luckily I observed it happening to someone else to prepare me. I was made very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the ringing though I must admit to feeling a little more exercised than usual.
The ringing was enjoyable but finding food after we finished proved impossible. Eat before you ring!
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 10-2-13 in A♭. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mellanus and more information is provided by the Truro Diocesan Guild of Ringers.
