Lower Slaughter, St Mary

The parish Church of St Mary, Lower Slaughter, is situated in the middle of this small village. The churchyard is bounded on the West and South by Copse Hill Road. The church, like much of the village, is built of Cotswold stone. Parking is very tricky in what is considered by some to be one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds.

Ringing is from the ground floor.

2010-04-10

I visited for the first time on Saturday 10th April 2010 as the fourth tower on the Harvington ringers annual tour.

Our host joined in with our ringing allowing us to ring Plain Bob Doubles. Although the bells are light they were nice to ring.

The Bells

The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 5-3-20 in B. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary and more information is provided by the Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers.
