Willersey, St Peter
The parish Church of St Peter, Willersey is situated in the East of the village at the end of Church Street. There are lovely views and the spectacular Norman church of St Nicholas at Saintbury is clearly visible about a mile to the east. There is a small parking area in Church Street.
The Church is cruciform in layout and access to the ringing room is via a narrow spiral stone staircase the entrance to which is outside the South-east corner of the tower. It has a good sized, white painted ringing room with a single small window. There is plenty of seating for those not ringing the 6 bells.

I visited for the first time on Thursday 16th August 2007 to join their weekly practice. I rang lots of Plain Bob Doubles on bell #3 and the Tenor for St Simon Doubles and Grandsire Doubles.

My next visit was on Saturday 28th August 2010 for the monthly practice of the WDCRA Southern Branch. I started by ringing up bell #5 which had an odd kick in the rope when it was nearly up. I followed this by a touch of Stedman Doubles on the treble, I'm still not confident of handling the singles but I was unaffected and al went well.
I then rang the treble for Cambridge, treble bobbing being something that I am just starting to learn. It didn't start too well since I lapsed into Stedman and tried to double dodge and lie rather than single dodge and lie! Once I realised what I was doing I sorted myself out and the rest went fine.
I ended by ringing 240 of Grandsire Doubles on bell #3 which went ok and then rang down bell #2. A really rewarding evening.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing ~12-0-0 in G. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Peter. More information is provided by the Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers and the Worcestershire & Districts Change Ringing Association.
