Bromyard, St Peter
The Bromyard Parish Church of St Peter [1, 2] is on Church Lane in the East of the town. It is a large 14th century Norman church build on the site of an earlier, 9th century minster. It is aligned on an East West axis with the tower in the East. There is plenty of parking on the North side of the church.
The ringing room is reached by a 42 step stone spiral staircase. The entrance to the stair is inside the tower.

I visited for the first time on Friday 17th April 2009 for a practical session during the Hereford Ringing Course. I was here to practice Bob Minor and rang several courses on bell #3 which proved to be an easy bell to ring.

My second visit on Friday 29th April 2011 for a practical session during another Hereford Ringing Course. This time I was here to ring eight bells. I started with a plain course of Stedman Triples. I rang in three touches of Grandsire Triples with mixed success, I was so busy trying to "see" what I'd been taught in the tutorials that I lost concentration on what I already knew! I also rang a plain course of Plain Bob Major which went ok. I rang cover for Stedman and Gransire Triples for other students. During the 90minutes I rang on bells #3, #5, #7 and the Tenor. Hard work but reasonably successful.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 14-2-22 in F. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Peter with more information provided by the Hereford Diocesan Guild of bellringers. No information on the bells history or inscriptions was to be found.
