Burford, St John the Baptist
The Church of St John the Baptist, Burford is in the north of this small Cotswold town and is bordered to the east by the River Windrush. There is a little parking beside the Church and a larger car park is just over the river at the end of Church Lane.
This is a very big Church. The tower is in the middle of the Church and the entrance to the spiral stone staircase that leads up to the ringing room is within the body of the Church. The ringing room is large and provides seating for a dozen people in addition to the 8 ringing. The room is light with windows on all four sides.

I visited for the first time on Thursday 21st January 2010 for the "Two Hundred and Fourtythird Mid-week Outing" of the Four Shires Guild of Bell Ringers. I'm still not capable of ringing much on 8 bells but rang up bell #5 and rang the Tenor for a touch of Grandsire Triples.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 17-3-0 in E. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St John the Baptist and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
