Chippenham, St Andrew
The Parish Church of St Andrew, Chippenham can be found near the main shopping district south of the River Avon bounded by St Mary St and The Causeway. On street parking is limited to 30 minutes so I used the car park at Emery Gate.
The ringing room is reached through a door inside the tower and by climbing a wooden spiral staircase consisting of 17 steps followed by a crosswalk and a second spiral staircase of 20 steps. Two small high windows provide a little natural light. There is plenty of seating for those not ringing.

I visited for the first time on Saturday 2nd July 2011 as the fifth tower [ 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th ] of the Four Shires Guild annual outing.
I started with bell #6 for Plain Bob Triples which did not go well and we continued with Plain Hunt on 9. Later I rang a touch of Grandsire Triples on bell #5 which went extremely well, the striking was good and I never felt in doubt as to what I should be doing. These are very nice bells and my most enjoyable ring of the day.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 18-1-5 in E♭. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Andrew and some additional information is provided by The Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers.
