Fladbury, St John the Baptist
The Fladbury Church, St John the Baptist, is situated on the east side of Church St that runs north/south through the village. The eastern boundary of the churchyard is the River Avon. There is parking space along Station Road.
The ringing room is reached by climbing a spiral staircase. While I entered the staircase from inside the church it looked like there was another entrance from ouside the tower. The ringing room room is spacious with plenty of room to ring the eight bells.
2010-09-22
I visited for the first time on Wednesday 22nd September 2010 in recognition of the 2010 the International Year of Biodiversity and to coincide with meeting of Heads of State at the UN in New York.
Being midday on a Wednesday we could only rustle up 5 ringers but managed some Rounds and Call Changes as well as some Plain Bob Minimus.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 12-3-3 in G♯. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St John the Baptist and additional information is provided by the Worcestershire & Districts Change Ringing Association. No information on the bells history or inscriptions was to be found in the tower.
