Great Comberton, St Michael
You can find Great Comberton Parish Church in, appropriately enough, Church Lane. It is built of the local cotswold stone and is situated on your right as you drive south along Church Lane towards Bredon Hill. Access to the ringing room is a challenging climb. There is a small door in the west side of the tower that opens on to a narrow spiral staircase which only leads up part of the way. A sharp turn up a large step and then along a very low sloping flight of steps eventually leads to the ringing room. The ringing room was not very large and includes a large clock mechanism. The bells ring quite nicely.
I visited for the first time on Saturday 19th May 2007 as part of our 2007 tour.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 8-2-16 in B♭. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Michael.
There is some additional information provided by Worcestershire & Districts Change Ringing Association.
