Great Barrington, St Mary the Virgin
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin is situated at the southern edge of Barrington Park just north of the River Windrush. It is at the end of a narrow lane walled on both sides. Parking is limited nearby, I reversed into the lane since I do not think it is wide enough to turn my car.
The ringing takes place on the ground floor. The space is quite tight for ringing bells #2 and #3.

I visited for the first time on Thursday 19th January 2012 as the second tower
[1st]
of the 267th Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
The ropes were quite short on the day we visited and while the tails of a couple were lengthened that didn't bring the sally any lower. I started by ringing up the tenor and a little later rang a touch of Grandsire Doubles on bell #3. They went quite nicely though are not very loud from inside, from outside they sound quite nice.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 6 bells with a tenor weighing 8-0-3 in B♭. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary and some additional information provided by The Gloucester & Bristol Diocesan Association of Church Bell Ringers.
