Colwall, St James the Great
The Colwall Parish Church of St James the Great is located at a double bend along Mill Lane in the west of this sizable village. There is a car park.
The ringing room is reached by climbing a 34 step clockwise stone spiral staircase. There is plenty of seating leaving space to ring the 10 bells.

I visited for the first time on on Saturday 1st July 2017 as the third tower of the Four Shires Guild annual tour. My experience of ringing 10 bells is still limited and I did not feel inclined to try any method ringing on unfamiliar bells, I contented myself by ringing up bell #6, the tenor and #8 for some plain hunt and rounds and call changes and ended by ring down bell #7.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 10 bells with a tenor weighing 10-1-5 in G. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St James with more information provided by the Hereford Diocesan Guild of bellringers. No information on the bells history or inscriptions was to be found.
