Usk, St Mary
In Usk (Brynbuga), the parish church of St Mary is located in the southeast of this small town. I parked in Twyn Square and walked to the church along Priory Street.
It is quite a big church set in a large attractive churchyard. The ringing room is reached by climbing the 37 steps of an anti-clockwise stone spiral staircase (entrance to staircase is inside the tower). The room is very spacious with >20 chairs and four arched windows, one in each face of the tower.

My next visit was on Saturday 7th July 2012 as the fourth tower [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th (lockout), 7th] of the 2012 Annual Tour of the Four Shires Guild.
We rang here in torrential rain and straight after lunch. I rang bell #5 for a nice touch of Grandsire Triples and later rang bell #4 for a touch of Stedman triples. I think this was probably the best I have rung Stedman Triples to date, affected by lots of bobs, very rewarding. I also rang for some Rounds and Call Changes, the call was for the whole row of 7, very strange. I really enjoyed my ringing here!
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 14-1-7 in F#. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary's Church and more information is provided by the Llandaff & Monmouth DACBR.
