Bidford-on-Avon, St Lawrence
St Lawrence, the Parish Church of Bidford-on-Avon is situated on the north bank of the River Avon in the middle of the village. The ringing room is on the ground floor and the square space has plenty of room to ring the 8 bells.
I visited for the first time on Tuesday 17th April 2007 and was made very welcome. There were about a dozen ringers including some beginners that were practicing on the first two bells leaving the back six for general ringing. During the evening I rang most of the back 6 bells. I managed several plain courses of Plain Bob Doubles on bell #3 as well as the treble for several courses of Grandsire Doubles with "singles" and "bobs". There were enough talented ringers to do some more complicated methods that I enjoyed observing. I ended by ringing down on bell #2.
This was interesting evening with a wide range of ability catered for which suited me very well.
