Warwick, St Nicholas
The Warwick Parish Church of St Nicholas is in the middle of this small county town of Warwickshire. The church is on the south side of St Nicholas Church Street (A429) where it meets the Banbury Road (A425) at a roundabout. Between the church and the River Avon is St Nicholas Park. There is plenty of parking in the car park between the church and St Nicholas Park.
The ringing room is reached by climbing a short spiral stone staircase the entrance to which is outside in the north face of the tower. The ringing room is spacious with white walls, 2 windows in the north and south faces and provides plenty of seating for anyone not ringing with old pews on all four faces of the tower.

The ringers ring both here and at nearby St Mary's practicing in the two towers on alternate weeks. I visited for the first time on Wednesday 12th September 2012 to join their weekly practice. I had met three of them before.
When I arrived they were trying out their new simulator and we with started with a touch of Grandsire triples with me on bell #5. We then rang them down with me on bell #4. The simulater was then turned off and from then we rang them properly.
They are a very capable bunch of ringers and the only times that they didn't ring a surprise method was when I was ringing. That said I enjoyed ringing another couple of touches of Grandsire Triples on bells #4 and #6 and a couple of touches of Stedman Triples on bells #4 and #5. I was pretty pleased with the Stedman, if everyone else knows what they are doing I can get through a touch. There were a lot of bobs but no singles.
A really good evening's ringing!
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 15-2-20 in F. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Nicholas.
