Buckland, St Mary the Virgin
The parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, Buckland is situated in the north of this moderately sized village. There is limited parking nearby.
The ringing room is reached by climbing a 28 step wooden anticlockwise spiral staircase. The bottom of the stair is reached through a door in the outside of the south side of the church. The ringing room is very nicely decorated with the walls baing painted green at the bottom, cream at the top with a narrow gilt separating the green and cream. There is only one small window but it was bright and cheery on the day we visited.

My first visit was on Thursday 17th October 2013 as the second tower
[1st,
3rd,
4th]
of the 288th Mid-week Outing
of the
Four Shires Guild.
I only rang the once and that was for a touch of Grandsire Triples on bell #5.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 14-2-7 in E. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Mary the Virgin and more information is provided by the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers.
