Downton, St Laurence
The parish Church of St Laurence is in the sizable village of Downton in Wiltshire and bordering Hampshire. It is situated on the east side of the River Avon and on the north side of the B3080. Its seems possible to enter the churchyard from all directions but I chose to park in Church Leat and enter that way.
There is a large ringing room which is reached by climbing a wooden spiral staircase.

I visited for the first time on Saturday 4th July 2015 as the fourth tower of the Four Shires Guild annual tour. [1st, 2nd, 3rd].
I started by ringing bell #4 or Rounds & Call Changes followed by bell #3 for Plain Hunt and ended by ringing the tenor for some more Rounds & Call Changes.
The Bells
The tower has a ring of 8 bells with a tenor weighing 22-3-23 in D. Dove's Guide includes details of the bells at St Laurence and more information is provided by the Salisbury Diocesan Guild of Ringers.
